Weigh-In Results

So after I wrote my blog yesterday I decided I wanted to start Couch to 5k again.  If you're unfamiliar with the program, it's a really great 5k training program that gets you running a 5k from nothing in 9 weeks.  Since there was a little light left and I didn't finish my Jillian Michaels workout with Claire, I decided I'd go for a run and start.  The running came easier than it had in a long time.  I felt like I had to wait a really long time to run and had to stop after too short an interval.  This is great.  I'm in better shape than I've ever been at the beginning of C25k.

When I got home, I felt very motivated so I found a 5k to run.  There aren't a lot of races in October, but I found one on October 8th.  That's two months from today, so not quite the 9 weeks C25k suggests so I'll have to squeeze in an extra 3 workouts somewhere in the mix.  If you live in the Minneapolis area and you'd like to run a 5k with me, here's the link: 8th Annual Historic Riverfront 5K Run.

Let's get to the weigh-in.

Gross.  That's a gain of 3.3 pounds.  It doesn't matter though.  I'm done with this gaining B.S.  This is my low (high?) point.  I can only go up (down?) from here.  I'm declaring my slump officially over.

  1. So... this summer I haven't been able to shake the 15-20 pounds I gained during the school year. I'm biking a few miles twice a day now and trying to eat a little less and a little more fruit and vegies and less junk.

Your weight loss at the outset of your mission was remarkable - keep at it!

  2. This post makes me incredibly happy. I literally just Stumbled Upon your blog. I've been a type-1 diabetic for 20 years now (I'm currently 24 years old) and through most of my growing up I was a solid 127 lbs. Just this last year I've put on 100 pounds. This came with a bunch of others things that are probably related but hard to tell definitively. Most of those issues being the way I feel my high and low blood sugars. Anyway... one month ago I weighed at 220 lbs. My heart started hurting and thusly told myself I would start working out.

I jog for 30 minutes, do 3 sets of 12 reps of crunches, 3 sets of 12 reps of dumbells (concentrated, standard, kickbacks, and hammers), and 40 squats every other day... I couldn't feel happier and more alive than I do right now. And this is after I lost my job (I'm still inbetween jobs). I have so much hope and confidence in you.

Stick with it, please... I'll continue to read your blog and use your story as a motivation for myself. I can only hope you'll do the same!

  3. Good luck with the 5k in October. There aren't many 5k's where I live in England, so i've yet to run one but I have currently reached week 8 in the C25K prog. Hopefully one day i'll be able to run one just to say I've done it.

    All the best,

    Tim
