Weigh-In Results

It's Monday and time to weigh in.

I've had a sore throat that's recently exploded into a full-blown head cold, which is expanding into my lungs.  Gross.  I stayed home from work today and will probably be gone tomorrow as well.  I really hate being sick.

Anyway, I decided to go ahead with my weigh-in.  I didn't want to miss a weigh-in just because I was sick.  I haven't exercised since Thursday and the weekend was filled with food and beer the likes of which will not be seen for quite some time.  I ate a cheeseburger and fries and just felt yucky afterward.  I'm glad my body is adapting to my healthier eating habits.

We'd better get this weigh in over with.  It's not pretty.

The result: 267.2.  I'm sorry I don't have a picture but I figured I didn't need photographic proof of a 5 pound gain.

So to review: I was sick, I didn't exercise, I've been eating poorly, I had a few beers, and I didn't exercise right before my weigh-in as per usual.  That resulted in me weighing 5 pounds more than I weighed last week.  I know what I did wrong and I know what I need to do.

  1. Weeks like this will happen sometimes. That just means you need to bring it this coming week! Make it fun! Make it yours. One week can rectify that, no problem. You sound like you have the right mentality about it!

  3. Same thing happened to me this weekend. I got home and found my weight had spiked up about 5 pounds. I didn't eat very well this weekend either (pretty hard to do in Morris if you have no means of cooking for yourself), but I was was kind of shocked. But you know, just a day later, it's already come back down to about where it was. Just a temporary blip. I'm sure that's all it is for you too.

Don't worry about it too much. It was an unusual weekend (fun though!). You're sick. You're probably just a bit off your rhythm. Concentrate on getting well, get some rest, then hit it hard when you're feeling better. You'll be back on track in no time.

  4. Beer=Bloated belly. Drink a lot of water and eat more fruits/veggies. :) I'm sure you didn't 'actually' gain 5 pounds. You'd be surprised how much weight you will lose pre-gym vs. post-gym.

Besides that, I'm glad you didn't make any excuses, and you made it a point to say that you knew what needed to be done to correct the problem (instead of just eating more crap). :) That is fabulous mental progress!

btw-I wish I could've been in Morris this past weekend with you..I miss everyone :)

  5. I don't even consider it a setback. I'm guessing that about half is water retention -- with the fast food, beer, sickness, and no chance of exercise. It'll get better and you'll be back to the normal way of life.

Doesn't it sound good to hear that the "normal way of life" is the healthy one?

  6. I'm with Andrew. Shit happens. Like in the Biggest Loser you might just have a big number (on the minus side) next week and we can all celebrate!

  7. You've identified the problem. You've identified how to exact the solution. So get to it!

Try vitamin C and it's crummy when you're sick

  8. So, it is probably a bigger load on your mind than your body. You will be up and back at it when you are good an ready. And not before.

A sign that you are getting your body trained for MUCH healthier fare.

    Interesting observations of water usage/food--
