I am absolutely drained. Tuesday is the day I teach private lessons. I love working with the kids I work with, but the 12 hour work-day broken up only by half hour commutes in a car with no heat (it was -3 here this morning) can wear you down.
I came home to dinner cooked by my incredible wife, Claire. It tasted fantastic. Afterward I just wanted to curl up and go to bed. That, however, was not in the cards. I needed to get to the gym.
At the gym, I ran another 5k on the treadmill. I feel like I'm moving mountains when the machine tells me I burned over 500 calories. All in all, I'm pretty sure I'm leaving this day a little thinner than I entered it.
I have 5 days left of my 21-day challenge. It will feel good to have something concrete like that under my belt. It's been a while.
How are your 21-day challenges going? Anyone still hanging in there?
Awesome job on the 500 calorie burn Andrew! I can only dream of burning that much at once, but I'll get there. Way to go!
ReplyDeleteI envy you - I'd love -3 weather, it's -32 here with the windchill. Good times on my hour bus ride to work lol
ReplyDeleteThat's nothin'. Up in parts of Alaska it's -50. I'd wish I were in -32 weather, but I'm in Iowa right now um... vacationing? Anyway, my husband Todd said it's almost too cold to drive his snow machine around.
ReplyDeleteHo Ho Ho... I wish I lived in Alaska. Where I live it can get as cold as -90. Brr... On top of it, in the summer the ground has been opening up to reveal the sea below it. Do you know how hard it is to make toys when your elves keep getting swallowed by the sea?
ReplyDeleteThe Abominable Snowman is beside himself about the whole polar bear thing. On the plus side, I've got a lot of oil companies offering to pay me to drill near my home in the summer.
Now Santa, Dontchaknow that global warming isn't real?
ReplyDeleteThat's nothing. One time my buddy didn't return from a scouting mission on the ice planet, Hoth. I went after him and ended up having to slice open a tauntaun and put my buddy in just to save his life. Gross...
ReplyDeleteNot to change the subject, but I am happy you are so committed to the 21 day challenge! It isn't easy to get to the gym after a long day, but I bet you're glad you did it, because I'm glad you did!
ReplyDelete500 calories! Good for you - hang in there for the 21 day challenge!
ReplyDeleteI've been inspired to keep at it day after day.
Now that you're nearing the end of your challenge, you need to set your goals of weekly workouts so you don't stop going, or go less than you intended. If you want to keep up the momentum, you have to keep the goals!! :)
ReplyDeleteSomething to think about: On super busy days, have a shorter workout (or no workout). Wearing yourself out just to burn a few hundred calories will make up for itself when you have the 'tired cravings'. :) And it won't make the day seem so dreadful.
21 days is tough! I'm impressed! I just made it 6 days... :) I can't work out on Thursdays with my schedule (and stay sane), so I can do 21 workouts in 24 days... but that's not as sexy a challenge. Way to go, and keep it up!
